Forks Township is seeking a qualified individual to serve as its Recreation Manager. This is an exempt, salaried position reporting to the Parks and Recreation Director.

The Recreation Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the Community Center and for assisting the Parks and Recreation Director with other functions of the department. Hours for this position are 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM with some weekends and additional hours as needed. The Recreation Manager must be able to develop, manage, and provide oversight to a comprehensive Community Center program focusing on youth, adult, and senior programs in both active and passive recreation, as well as, possess the ability to supervise community center personnel. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a competitive benefits package.

Education requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, or related field.

The Fitness Center Coordinator has three main areas of responsibility;

The Recreation Department at North Strabane Township in Washington County seeks a spring /summer intern to perform hands on operations of field preparation and maintenance.  Additional duties include coordinating operations with leagues, coaches and the general public.  Knowledge of facilities operations and maintenance will also be obtained along with the possibility of concession stand operations.  Suitable candidates should have college majors in Recreation and Park Management, Sports Management, Agronomy, etc.  North Strabane offers a state of the art facility with four Baseball Fields ranging from 225 to 300 feet and a Synthetic Turf Field that offers a variety sporting opportunities to the community.  The fields have lighting, therefore, we operate both days and evenings till 11:00pm.

Looking for one intern for each of the following upcoming semesters:  Summer 2017 and Fall 2017

Intern will work within the Recreation Department assisting with youth programs, adult programs and seasonal activities.  Manage, promote and facilitate various sports leagues and special events.  Assist with instruction and planning for a variety of sports programs and scheduling of leagues.  Collect statistics and other information.  Must possess good written and oral communication and computer skills.  Must be willing to work varied hours during the day and evening.

This is a hands-on experience where the intern will gain knowledge in various forms of community recreation.  This is a non paid Internship.  Could be used for Course credits.

Focus: Environmental Education (Teaching)

Hours: 40 hrs. per week with a flexible work schedule (February – May), Some evening/weekends required

Compensation: This internship is a for credit internship with housing provided.  Paid Training: Wilderness First Aid Certification. 

SUMMER INTERNSHIP, May - August

Focus: Environmental Education and Outdoor Recreation (Program Delivery/Teaching)

Hours: 40 hrs. per week with a flexible work schedule (May – August)

Compensation: $1,500 stipend and housing provided for the summer.  Paid Training: Wilderness First Aid Certification. 

All interns will also complete an independent project that may require gathering and analyzing data, preparing reports, facility design, marketing, and the creation of a departmental procedures manual. Projects are mutually agreed upon and aligned with academic studies.
