Developing a Park Facility Inspection Model

Representatives from the Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Department discuss the formation of their Operational Standards Unit, which oversees the inspection of facilities and parkland within the 11,000 acres of the Philadelphia Parks and Recreation system. This presentation includes the program’s history, process for the development of standards and inspection sheets, auditing, and the successes and challenges of the first two years. The speakers also detail their plans for programmatic expansion over the next two years to show how past practices, continued research and departmental needs inform the future of their inspection model.
