Join us for this interactive and informative workshop for municipal managers, boards, local officials, and volunteers who are seeking help, information and assistance with park and recreation planning, programing, and maintenance.
The workshop will feature an informative facility and trail tour with local experts as well as specific discussions geared towards enhancing the park and recreation resources for your community. Along with opportunities to learn about resources that may be available to assist them, attendees will have the opportunity to speak, share and learn from professionals in parks and recreation on best practices for programming, budgeting, administration and operations.

Session Descriptions
4:15 pm - Park Walk with DCNR and PMI
DCNR District Forester, Garrett Beers, will be on hand to identify and discuss tree diseases and potential hazards for trails and open spaces. We will also tour the outdoor amenities of the park to discuss maintenance practices, efficiencies, and programing. Mark Palerino, Division Chief, Recreation & Conservation Partnerships Division (DCNR) and Brian (BK) Kohler, Director, Park Maintenance Institute will offer their insights and knowledge.
5:45 pm - Presentation - Planning for and Managing Parks and Open Spaces
David Albright, Chestnuthill Township Manager, will share his experiences acquiring, planning for, and developing open spaces for parks and recreation. Using his township as a model, attendees will learn about the resources and assistance that may be available to them to properly plan for, develop, and manage Their open spaces for conservation and recreation.
6:15 pm - Resource Hour.
Representatives from DCNR, PMI, and PRPS will be on hand to provide information, answer questions and share their experiences about issues and tasks specific to parks, community recreation and local resources. Topics will include community programming, budgeting for recreation, operations and park and open space administration.
7:15 - Open Forum
An opportunity for attendees to ask questions, share their issues and concerns and receive feedback, leads and information from the many local and regional park professionals on hand.
7:30 - Wrap Up and Feedback
Participant feedback will be used to guide he selection of future topics and presenters
Attendees can earn .2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
